Just hours after Russia and Ukraine started a significant prisoner exchange, Ukraine’s capital Kyiv was subjected to a broad Russian drone and missile bombardment overnight into Saturday.
According to Ukraine’s National Police posted on Telegram, at least fifteen persons were wounded in several neighborhoods of the city.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko of the city claimed the attack started fires and left trash all around. Officials said that several residential buildings suffered damage.
Video posted by Reuters news agency showed explosions and loud sirens blasting around the capital. One could see multiple fires against the nighttime skyline.
After Russia and Ukraine finished the first phase of what is supposed to be the largest prisoner exchange since the start of the war, the nocturnal onslaught followed.
Kyiv and Moscow are slated to swap 2,000 persons — 1,000 from each side; the swap began on Friday and will last Saturday and Sunday.
