US President Donald Trump has decided to give the European Union until July a deadline for tariff negotiations.
It follows Ursula von der Leyen’s “good call” with Trump on Sunday, the European Commission President stated.
Trump declared a 20% duty on most EU products last month; however, he cut it to 10% until August to give time for negotiations. Friday Trump threatened to impose 50% tariffs and voiced annoyance with the speed of discussions with the EU.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said Von der Leyen assured him “we will rapidly get together and see if we can work something out”. Later on Truth Social posted stating it was his “privilege to extend the deadline”.
