Court records show that the man accused of tossing Molotov cocktails in a “act of terrorism” during a pro-Israel demonstration in Boulder, Colorado, injured 12 persons and has been charged with a federal hate crime as well as state charges include 16 counts of attempted first-degree murder.
The federal court records claimed the 45-year-old defendant, Mohamed Soliman, told investigators “he researched on YouTube how to make Molotov Cocktails, purchased the ingredients to do so, and constructed them.”
Soliman enrolled in a concealed carry class to pick up gun firing techniques; but, “had to use Molotov cocktails [for the attack] after he was denied the purchase of a gun due to him not being a legal citizen,” state court records showed.
Allegedly hiding himself as a gardener during the incident, Soliman reportedly said police “he wanted to kill all Zionist people and wished they were all dead,” records added. “SOLIMAN declared he would do it (conduct an attack) again.”
The state records say he “said this had nothing to do with the Jewish community and was specific in the Zionist group supporting the killings of people on his land (Palestine).”
According to the papers, he anticipated to die during the attack and no one knew about his preparations.
Monday afternoon, Soliman showed up at his first state court appearance from the Boulder County Jail; the judge maintained his bond at $10 million.
He admitted he had received and comprehended a protective order prohibiting him from getting in touch to the victims.
The court records state the suspect drove roughly 100 miles from his Colorado Springs house to Boulder on Sunday and stopped at a gas station on the route.
claim court records claim Soliman “filled 8 glass containers he purchased from Target with gas, he put them in a black storage bin and in order to get as close as possible to the group he dressed otherwise like a gardener.”
The FBI claims he tossed an incendiary device at a gathering of pro-Israel activists at a pedestrian mall using a “makeshift flamethrower”. The FBI says he chanted “Free Palestine” during the incident.
According to court records, Soliman was shown in a video uploaded on social media during the incident clutching what looked to be Molotov cocktails and uttering “How many children killed” and “end Zionist.”
