The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warns that Israel’s growing military campaign and protracted embargo have driven the population to the verge of famine, so “what may be the cruellest phase of this cruel conflict” he says.
“For nearly 80 days, Israel blocked the entrance of life-saving international aid,” Guterres said in a Friday statement denouncing the extent of human suffering. “Famine is a real threat to all Gaza’s population.”
